What is Techlaze about?
Started in June 2011, Techlaze is a blog about the latest in Web, Technology, Software, and the FOSS world. Here, you can expect to find opinionated articles, howtos and general tech-related articles. It is not to be regarded as a tech news site, although we will cover some news from time to time.
Why Techlaze? Couldn’t you come up with a better name?
Techlaze means the laziness which comes from too much technology at our disposal. We’re sure many people can relate to that term.
You mentioned you write about FOSS… what’s that? Is it some new technology?
FOSS means Free and Open Source Software. It’s an ideology as well as a culture that is nurturing the software ecosystem. To know more about FOSS philosophy do check out this article. Also, it is important to remember that the term ‘Free’ in FOSS implies freedom. A FOSS can also be a paid one.
Would you write about any of the proprietary stuff?
Yes, we would if it is something interesting.
Ok good, I like your blog do I have to visit your site every time you post a new article?
No, you don’t. You can use an RSS feed reader like Google Reader or Feedly to subscribe to this blog. All you have to do is copy the URL http://feeds.feedburner.com/techlaze and paste it into your favorite feed reader. Any new article that’s published here will show up in your reader. Alternatively, you can subscribe to this blog via email so that every new article that’s published will be delivered to your mailbox. Once you’ve done that, do make sure you give us a thumbs up on our Facebook page and Circle us on Google Plus.
Do you have any specific comments policy?
No, we don’t. You are allowed to comment on any post that’s published on Techlaze. However, any comment that is written with the sole intention of promoting a product/site will be deleted. Also, please note that moderation may get delayed sometimes if there are too many comments. As far as language goes, there is not a prohibition on swearing per se; however, if you swear like George Carlin expect your comment to be rejected. Also, any form of racial abuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances. One advice though, try keeping things family safe.
What’s with the ads? I’m gonna start using Adblock from now
Well, ads are what keep this blog running. This blog isn’t a Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid that it can run smoothly with out any co-operation from its readers. Please check out this article on ars.technica which explains how adblocking might be devastating to the sites you love. Nonetheless, we don’t and we won’t stop you from using Adblock in your browser.
Why is the blog so dumbed down? I mean, I know what apt-get does, you don’t have to explain everything!
Techlaze is written for the general audience, and not for genius hackers with a Phd from MIT. The general audience doesn’t want to get bogged down by the penguinian leet lingo, they just want to read stuff in plain English.
I hate your blog; it’s so awful and boring
Well we can’t please everyone, can we? This blog is written for everyone to read, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you dislike something particular about this blog, and also have a little time on your hands, feel free to tell us how we can improve Techlaze by sending us a mail using the contact form. If at all, you hate this blog for no particular reason, then you can move on to any of the blogs that are on our blogroll.
