How to Unlock Romance and Get Married in Sims Freeplay – A Detailed Guide

As someone who has been playing The Sims Freeplay for years, I know how exciting it is to have your Sims fall in love and get married. But if you‘re just starting out, you may be wondering: how do you even get the romance option in Sims Freeplay?

Well friend, you‘ve come to the right place. In this detailed guide, I‘ll walk you through everything you need to do to unlock dating, proposals, weddings, and more in the game step-by-step. Let‘s get started!

An Overview on Romance in Sims Freeplay

Sims Freeplay is a free-to-play life simulation game that allows you to create and customize your own Sims. As you play, your Sims will build careers, skills, relationships and complete goals.

One of the most popular aspects of the game is pursuing romantic relationships. Your Sims can flirt, date, fall in love, get engaged, and eventually get married.

According to the developers at FireMonkeys Studios, romance features are some of the most used in the game. Players seem to really enjoy matching up their Sims and seeing the relationships progress.

But romance options don‘t just appear immediately. You need to unlock them first by completing certain quests.

So how does it all work? Let me break it down for you…

Step 1: Reach Game Level 7

In order to open up romantic interactions, your game first needs to reach level 7.

You can check your current level at any time by tapping the star icon at the top left of the screen.

Game LevelUnlocks
Level 1Basics like building, careers
Level 7Romance quests
Level 11Proposing and weddings
Level 15Having babies

As you can see, romance quests unlock at level 7 specifically. So just keep playing the game normally, building your Sims‘ homes and progressing their lives and careers. Over time, you‘ll reach the required level.

According to the Sims Freeplay subreddit, most players reach level 7 within 1-2 weeks of normal gameplay. So hang in there!

Step 2: Complete the “Bread Winner” and “Money Grows on Trees” Quests

Once your game hits level 7, the next requirement is finishing two money-earning quests:

  • Bread Winner: Earn §25,000 simoleons
  • Money Grows on Trees: Earn §75,000 simoleons

These are timed challenges that require your Sims to work at their jobs for several days until the target amounts are earned.

Here are some tips to complete these quickly:

  • Have multiple Sims with different jobs to maximize earnings
  • Make sure your Sims get enough sleep and fun so they go to work consistently
  • Use career rewards like Opportunity Knocks to earn extra
  • Have Sims work overtime or get promotions for pay increases

Once you finish these two quests, you‘ll unlock the key romance quest line.

Step 3: Complete the “Love is in the Air” Quest

After reaching level 7 and finishing the money quests, the “Love is in the Air” quest will appear. This is the pivotal one for unlocking dating and proposals.

The goals for this quest are:

  • Have 2 Sims Flirt with each other 10 times
  • Have 2 Sims Hug each other 10 times
  • Have 2 Sims Hold Hands 10 times

My recommendation is choosing two adult or elder Sims for this quest. Then just have them repeatedly use the Flirt, Hug, and Hold Hands social interactions with each other until the objectives are complete.

Once you finish all three goals, the quest will be marked complete. Romantic interactions will then be enabled!

Step 4: Let Your Sims Date and Fall in Love

Now that you‘ve unlocked romance, your Sims can start dating properly. Have them gradually build up their relationship by using socials like:

  • Flirt
  • Be Romantic
  • Tell Joke
  • Hug
  • Hold Hands
  • Kiss

Their status will evolve from Acquaintance to Love Interest to Boyfriend/Girlfriend as they get to know each other better.

Keep fulfilling their romantic needs and soon they‘ll reach Soulmate status, indicated by pink flaming hearts. This means they‘ve fallen head over heels in love!

Step 5: Propose to Your Soulmate

The next milestone is getting engaged.

Once two Sims reach Soulmate status, the option to propose will appear when you tap on one of them. Select “Propose Marriage” and a special proposal event will play out!

If successful, the two are now Fiancés and can move on to planning their dream wedding.

(Note: Both Sims need to be Adults or Elders to propose. Teen Sims don‘t have this option).

Step 6: Have a Wedding Ceremony

After getting engaged, you have 2 Sim days to hold the wedding event. Tap the Engagement Ring icon above the Fiancés and choose “Have Wedding”.

This will bring up the Wedding Planner. Pick a venue, cake, flowers, arch, and other decorations. Finalize the details, and your Sims will walk down the aisle to seal the deal!

Once married, your Sims can take their relationship to the next level with options like:

  • WooHoo
  • Try for Baby
  • Move In together
  • Public Displays of Affection

So marriage opens up a whole new world of romantic possibilities!

Extra Tips for Romance Success

Here are a few more tips to help your Sims couples find happiness and maintain lifelong relationships:

  • Use the Romantic decor theme in their home for flirty moodlets
  • Send them on dates to scenic venues like the Romantic Core
  • Make sure both Sims are Adults/Elders to access all options
  • Have a second wedding after reaching Growing Old Together status
  • Take the Ultimate Soulmate reward for a 100% relationship

And that covers everything you need to know about unlocking romance and marriage in Sims Freeplay! With this guide, your Sims will be strolling down the aisle in no time.

I hope you found this walkthrough helpful. Let me know if you have any other Sims Freeplay questions! I‘m always happy to share tips and tricks to help a fellow Simmer out.
