Check your Chrome Bookmarks for Duplicate and Missing links with Bookmark Sentry

More often than not, our bookmark list tends to get so bloated that we forget that it too needs a little cleanup. There are duplicate links, links that don’t work and 404′s we don’t know about. Addressing that problem comes Bookmark Sentry, a nifty little Chrome extension that scans through your bookmarks for any links that don’t work. It then shows you the missing links and allows you to delete them one by one or all at once.

Once you install Bookmark Sentry, you won’t see any icon on your Chrome toolbar. Don’t worry though, just go to your Extensions Settings Menu( chrome://extensions/ ) and look for the Bookmark Sentry ( one with a golden star) icon. Click on options and a new page will open up allowing you to change the extension’s settings. Here, you can set Bookmark Sentry to run a scheduled scan every month, every day or every week. Likewise, you can set the connection timeout anywhere between 2 seconds and 60 seconds. Once you’re done, simply hit the ‘Scan Now’ button at the top and Bookmark Sentry will go through your bookmarks and check for any missing or duplicate links. When finished, it will show you a neat list of all the bad links. You can then either delete bookmarks individually or delete all of them at once by hitting the Delete All button at the top.

Overall, Bookmark Sentry serves as a handy extension for folks who have a huge list of bookmarks that tends to get a bit unorganized over time.
